Named
after the daughter of the company director Jules Gastambide, the
Antoinette owed much of its fame to the designer Leon Levavassier.
The aircraft was used in Hubert Latham's second attempt to fly
across the English Channel, which failed. But the aircraft was
salvaged and went on to give a brilliant performance at the Reims
race later the same year.
