You might have noticed blown up posters of our models
at the Convention these last couple years..(Any copy center will
do it for you but they charge (dearly) by the square foot..)
We've always worked toward cramming the most model onto the page
and considered our models as cute little posters with a view
of someday actually selling them as big posters. Ripleys 'Believe
it or Not' features were a big influence on our choice of format.
Graphically informative.
One well known artist is painting 4x8 (foot!) copies and the
galleries are charging $20,000 for them !!

He's licensed to do this, so it's quite ok..This is his latest
on the left.

A very good thing in this case is that the artist Malcolm Morley
is a great artist and not just a sunday painter.
For all us who since long times have looked upon Chips card models
as beautiful wall pictures, it is like feeling to be a member
of the avantgarde to notice that the art world not until now
has discovered the same.
I am personally interested in the interaction between fine
arts and model building. I want to see model building recognized
as a picturing fine art in its own. The Malcolm Morley pictures
are steps on that road. You could say that it is a pity that
Tate and Guggenheim and all famous galleries don´t see
Chip´s works as pieces of fine art before they are painted
in oil on canvas. But the one who is to blame for that is not
Malcolm Morley.
Chip, I am very glad that you have got in a friendly contact
with Morley. I believe it is a good thing for you and for paper
modelling in all. Your work is well worth to be portraited. Best
wishes Gunnar
I know a GREAT place to hang posters!

Someone in Bulgaria has gone through all the work to translate
these models, make plates, print, and try to distribute them wholesale.
I starved for 12 years in the '80s and '90s doing just that in
four countries and wish the enterprising SOB the very best of
luck. I performed a small investigation there and I found
that at least 20 of your models are printed in amount of 1000
each. Their retail price is about 1USD. So you are loosing at
least $5000. Bad news :-(
I'm also a looser - if the bastards were able to pay copyrights,
I've had chances to sell them my own designs as well. The good
news is that your models are printed with very high quality and
children REALLY like them. I'll try to buy for you samples of
ALL of your printed models and will send them to you by airmail.
Best regards, Emil Zarkov, ModelArt.

Chip,
I thought I had some "old" card models somewhere
that I purchased in a set at the Rhinebeck Aerodrome about 3 years
ago. When I finally found them, I noticed they were yours! Some
of them had Tadpole on the back (and "Printed in UK")
and only a few had Fiddlers Green on them. In comparing them to
the soft copies on the CDROM, they are similar but not identical.
Small world! Later ..Dave (04-03)
REPLY:
Yeah,,, For one print run (1990 ish) when the bill
collectors were sending out the Baliff (Banbury, UK) to seize
property, we printed another name "Tadpole" on the cards
so it would seem to be from someone else..Keep 'em dry.. they're
valuable ....Thanks for the email David
