I'm not normally a rivet-counter, but the pictures at Village Church show a recessed door on the Meeting Hall, but the model currently doesn't reflect that.

Being too new to this to know better, I'm going to attempt to modify this and submit crummy drawings that might be used in an update.

How deep is the recess? It appears to be barely wider than the door. I'm guessing twice as deep as the door is wide?

Something you could try is printing that side of the church a couple extra times and do one of two things. Double up the layer of the door framing on top of the flat side panel, or cut out the door and add multiple layers to the frame into the model.

Just a thought.

if'n you want to get fancy, you can cut out the window frames and put some packing tape, document cover, celiphane out of a bill, or any other clear stock, (stuck to some color you want the windows to be) and glue that behind the wall for a little extra depth. I have done this the glazing of some model aircraft and it works well.

Those are good ideas for a little more depth, like woodwork around the door, but this looks like a sheltered doorway.

Village Church has this picture (among other) Image.

While the picture name says "rear of hall" the other photos seem to indicate this is the front of the hall, unless it was turned around when the buildings were moved.

Throwing some numbers at it: let's say the door (measuring the N-scale model with a model RR rule) is 33" wide (big!), and the trim totals 42" wide. The depth of the recess appears to be 66" (eyeballing the photo). Actual measurement would be about 13/32" or about 40 layers of 65# cardstock.

Thanks for the incentive to work on some numbers!

Note: If anyone read this post prior to 1712 EDT (UTC -0400) 23 August 2014, the dimensions were doubled - I mistakenly put an N-scale rule against the H0 model.

That seemed to be pretty easy!

I have yet to dimension the drawing I'll be sending in, but here are some pics of the prototype:

Cut out: Image

Folded (all valley folds except along the bottom [as pictured] and the top of the leftmost section, which are mountain folds): Image

Quick-and-dirty 3D: Image ready to put inside the Front Entrance after cutting out the original door, but not the trim around the door.

I surprised myself!

Believe it or not, I came up with the unfolded layout in my sleep! My subconscious has always been smarter than my conscious!
