How about a place for specialized parts that modelers develop, such as the propellor I stashed in the Tips forum? That way such useful developments as modified landing gears, cockpit detailing, ordnance loads, maintenance accessories, engine detailing, etc. etc. that get created can all be found in one place.

I don't suggest this be a place for full models, or repaints - those should go to Chip to become part of the FG line. This would just be what it says it is - a parts warehouse.

I would second that. some of the models need conversion peices, such as the p-40 to all the different versions, and the f4u-1 to the bird cage canopy version! Ohhhh I can't wait!

yah, like cockpit interiors, and maybe razerback conversions for the P-51 & P-47, which would only be a new rear fuslage section and conopy. but that probubly qualify as a complete model though

Chip has the Boneyard CD, hopefully soon to be available online

about halfway down is the link.

It is a great source for parts.

You have to click either on "AIRCRAFT" or "BUILDINGS". The links aren't connected yet. I have it downloaded, and there are LOTS of parts. Mostly insignias and other logos for repaints. Some basic canopy and engine shapes.

I don't really use the boneyard anyway. Whenever I look at a model I'm designing, I'll actually check if any existing FG model has the shape I need, and and then modify it.

The best example I can think of is the Nazi Swing wing X-plane. The forward half of the fuselage is the Bell X-1, while the aft and tail is the Me-262, along with modified me-262 engines. Only the wings are original.

Murph, Do you do the same thing for insignia too? I had some troubles with the ones from the bone yard being fuzzy.

No, I cheated, and either drew my own, or on my scrounging of the net, I occasionally stumble across good insignia, and 'liberate' them.

Also, if you can find it, download the font "AmarilloUSAF". It matches the font used on US aircraft.

I had that font downloaded a while back, but we updated to a new computer and I forgot to transfer the font stuff. Guess i'll have to find it again before I can redo my C-47 paint scheme.

I have the USAF font and RAF font. If you want it, I'll e-mail them to you.

I'll have to download it when all the links are working again properly.

With this post I have officially become an 'Origami Master'!
