I felt inspired to try building an enlarged flying FG airplane using the foam sheet and package tape techniques. For the sake of simplicity I made free flight Colditz glider, 300% enlarged from the "big" version of the model.

Not having any Depron I had to soak the paper off of foamboard to obtain "3/16" thick foam. I made a single surface undercambered wing, added some dihedral, and just used some scrap wooden dowels for the wing struts. It's more of an experiment than a work of art. :D It flys fantasticly! Bare airframe weight 135 grams + 50 grams of nose weight to get the CG right for an all up weight 185 grams. 1/8" foam sheet would be required for a two surface wing and would work better for the tail surfaces.
When you build an enlarged version you really can apreciate how well the original models are layed out. The worst part of the whole process is removing the dang paper from the foam.[/img]
