Well, guys, just snagged the GPM B-52, thinking to use it as a base for enlarging to a 1/12-scale RC.

Good news: structure looks almost like I could build the papermodel for RC--the span's bigger than I am tall! (Not hard, though, when you're a sawed-off little runt like me.LOL)

Bad news: Like the FG, it's an amalgamation of A-F and pre-EVS G/H features, but it does have the distinct tail-gunner canopy; problem being that it's too far aft. (The FG version is basically a B-52G with a -D tail stuck on top; given that the BUFF is one of Chip's least favorite birds and he burned out on it, one can understand the situation.)

Dilemma: Should I try to graft the FG rear to the GPM front and chop the tail, or try to redesign one end or the other from scratch? (When you look at a "Tall Tail" side-on, there's no difference in slope on-centerline between the windscreen and nose upper radome; the G/H have a bigger radome with a ~3.5' longer nose due to newer, bigger radar systems.)

From the sounds of it, the tail on the GPM is the right shape, but it's not in the right place right? If that's true, then go off of the correct scale location and ignore the model's markings.

As for the nose, I try maybe looking at the GPM kit, and some pics of the real planes of those models, and see how they compare. THen use a cope of the GPM nose as a base to design the newer model nose from scratch. It might take a while, but I know you can do it! :D :D

First, a comparison.

Nose/Fwd Fuse
FG: G-model, pre-EVS imagers (the "chin" fairings)
GPM: Technically a bastardization, midway between D and G but looks "sorta-G" enough to use as a late-model

Aft Fuse:
FG: G/H
GPM: glitched A-F (call it "D" for convenience)--gunner's glasswork needs to move along "spine" closer to tail

Tail Fin
FG: A-F, correctly placed relative to wing and horizontal fin
GPM: A-F, ditto

Willy, it's not a matter of markings--I'd have to somehow build the GPM rear-fuse, extrapolate the compound curves and cones of it's upper face, then figure out how to design a new tail-turret glasswork piece to install halfway between existing GPM and fin trailing edge.

If only I had the FG one in vector or some other CAD-grade format and a plotter... then I'd enlarge the GPM guts, wrap the FG skin around 'em except for a few minor details where I'd use enlarged GPM (tiptanks and such), chop the fin and call it a "good-enough G", even though my goal was a "Big Belly" I could use for paintball Arc Light strikes. (I figure two paintball Claymores, mounted in the bomb-bay to fire straight down, should be sufficient "Death From Above"... but I still wanna figure out a "paintball nuke".)

Granted, GPM didn't exactly have the best references for their design, being on the Wrong Side of the Curtain and all...

Apparently this project failed to materialize.

Correct... life got in the way, and still is. A belated Welcome Aboard, BTW!
