Guys...

There's an FTP folder where our networking designers pass each other scannings, large files and betas in process and I'm thinking it would be a fun thing to share with you.

You're free to use it to share information with other forum members especially if you have something to contribute to a particular FG design in process. Like three views etc. There is no limit in size but, out of courtesy, files should be reasonably sized (1-2 MB)

It's pretty empty now, just a beta 'tweaked' BW of the Boeing 40 I've sent over to Glen, it's designer. I clean it up every week or so.

To get into the 'designers' ftp folder..
Open the window in your upload program (we use Transmit or Fetch)

For the server, type in:
designers.fiddlersgreen.net

User Name:
designers

Pass Word:
fgmodels

Enjoy!
chip

If someone abuses it.. we'll have to close it up, OK?

Thanks, Chip. I'll be sure to use that once I find my plans so I can redsign the B-52's tip gear.

Now, I gotta remember to dig down past all the WWII air and naval stuff for a project I've been retained to research and get the BUFF references out...

Are you using a FTP transfer program? It won't work using a regular internet browser.

FTP stands fo file tranmsfer protocol. Allows one to transfer relativey large files, quickly. do a web search for programs. I use the one called "Cute FTP" - Offered as a thirty day free trial period, after which you can either buy it or delete it.

I'm using Wise-FTP and I'm getting a 500-error unable to connect. Login information incorrect. What am I doing wrong?

Matt

I'm using Cute FTP Pro and am getting this message when I try to connect to the designer's FTP site:

[9/3/2009 9:12:29 PM] Can't resolve "designers.fiddlersgreen.net". Network connectivity was detected. Check the spelling of the server name or contact the server administrator.

Is the site down, or no longer available? :(

That was from the old server I believe. There was that whole nastiness of the switch and all. I bet it didn't make the jump. Hmmm. Too bad.

Yes, too bad.

I'd like to see how a model evolves. At least a picture of beta :(
