Sorry about the abrupt breakoff in that first post - funny how our day jobs occasionally intrude on our real avocation. But the paper and ink has to get paid for somehow!

Back to building the prop:

Next is attaching the root collars:

Image

As you did with the blades, pre-curl the uncut sheet. Saves time, is easier to manipulate, etc. etc.

Image

Then cut the collars apart, trim to their finish edges, and tint the cut edges (all 4 of them on each collar)

Image

Attach just the (uncolored edge) of the root collar to the blade root as shown - just enough to firmly affix it to the blade and aligned properly.
Note that about a quarter of the collar's width overhangs the blade root.

(Don't attempt to both attach it and roll it up in one step - you'll have a glue circus all over the blade and your fingers if you try. Patience is the watchword. These miniatures go together by miniature steps).

When the glue has dried, NOW spread a thin layer of glue across the collar and roll it up tightly.

Repeat for the other blades:

Now you've got something that's starting to resemble a real propellor! ---

Next installment - the Spider

Stay tuned!
