Has any one built the Whale Boat yet? I just started and of course I have questions. One question is the way the oars and Harpoon and Lance are rolled to make there shape. When I printed it out it seemed to my that the painting looked odd the way it appears. Thank you guys for your help. wc

I haven't built this one yet. In fact, I don't think I even have it. I had to let the Magic Keys go. Too many bills and not enough free play money for models. I hope someone can help ya Waddy.

Doesn't look like it Coach. There is always hope. I'll keep plugging along on it. It will make a great Christmas present for a close friend of mine. Thank you Willy. wc

I checked I had over $100 in store credit, so I picked up the Whale boat. I'm looking it over now. I'll see what I can find.

Okay Waddy, I looked the spear and lance over. I think the image of the shaped parts next to the strips you roll are to show shape. Basically, I think you are supposed to roll the strips for each part around a length of wire. Then, cut, sand and shape the ends to be either round or cone shaped. The spearhead looks like it is folded over on the edge with the extra flap and wrapped around the wire.

I hope that helps. I won't have a chance to actually build it to try this for a while.

Thank you Coach, sorry for the late reply. Been away from FG sorry a couple of weeks and just busy with modeling and other things. As I have said, model help with the migraines. I can escape into model and try to block everything else out. I also started the M. Falcon from Star Wars for my sin's girl friend for Christmas. First time playing with formers for a model. Also started a Fly Gold Finch I bought for my wife. The whaling boat is coming along. I had to start over again due to a few too many clue marks on the hull. Doing the inside of it now. This is a very details model. I'm surprise no one has tried this model yet. This model was one of the free ones if you were a member of FG which I know you are. Why did you have to buy it? What models are you doing now? I hope the family is well and all is well with you. I'm plugging along. Another day, another model. I'm trying to get another friend into this hobby. I sent him a FG WW I biplane model as that is his thing. Is there any chance you might take on another students if I'm unable to explain various aspects of this hobby to him? The wife is away this weekend at a musical thing up in northern Calif. So no honey doo's then 3 day weekend. Best wishes, wc

I'm glad you are back at it on the whaling boat. It's too bad that the migraines are still bothering you. I only get them every 3-4 months, and they are miserable enough that often. I had to "buy" the model (used store credit) because I had to let my magic keys lapse. We have had many big projects on the house lately, and all free cash was tied up in them.

Now I understand Coach. If ever I can be of help please let me know. Either here or my e-mail. Ok? I have the hull and floor together. Just waiting and working on a few other projects at the same time. Trying something new. Migraines really get in the way but I have found modeling to help. Once I get into it and really zone in on modeling the pain drops a little to the point where I can work. Migraines still hurt just not as much but still a big hurt. wc.
