wooden dowels, of various guages, are essential when forming rounded or tapered parts, such as fuselages. one might also have a damp sponge or cloth handy to soften the paper, but not so damp as to make it soggy.

another discovery! chopsticks make good dowels foe small parts, and the sharp ones are pretty decet scoring tools, too.

I like bamboo skewer sticks for that reason. Plus they're cheaper.

I work at a TV studio. There are two types of cleaning swabs available, one with plastic shaft and one with a round bamboo shaft. Guess which ones I buy for us to use? They are perfect for landing gear reenforcement and spars..

I have a LOT of different size dowels. Its funny really how you start looking at everything as a potential tool....
