Okay, guys, my Lexmark Z12 just isn't cutting it. I can print the FG B-17"G" at 99% (auto-fit to printer margins) OK, but trying to print the Dell 299 full-size means getting sections of parts clipped off by it's mandatory 1/2"-or-whatever-it-is lower margin. (I'm trying to get the 299 and the late-model to the same scale using only my laptop and printer, without going to Kinkos--the folks at the local one are generally less-than-helpful at best.)

Anyone care to suggest a good but inexpensive (like $100 or less) printer to replace this clunker? Small and portable is better, too. Or, can I somehow force Acrobat to print the G to the 299's automatic 94% reduction, or rearrange it with another program?

I've got an HP Deskjet 3930. I've never had problems with the margins on any of the FG models. It's less than $100, and new catrridges only cost about $25 to $30 each, as opposed to $30-$50 for Lexmark cartridges.

I use an old HP 932 that has worked magnificently for years now. Maybe you can find something similar on ebay or at a flea market. Lots of times, printers are bundled with new comptuers and the buyers get rid of their perfectly good older model in favor of whatever the the compter company tosses in.

+1 Rob!
I Love my DeskJet 932C It is a fantastic printer and the ink cartridges last a very long time too.
Heads Up: next time you need cartridges get them from www.printerinkwarehouse.com you can save a ton of money using them for your ink cartridges

Belated thanks, guys. Ended up that I was given an HP F2430 for Christmas (needed a scanner, anyway), and so far it's working pretty well. Now if only I could use it to scan the prints and program a laser-cutter...
