Chip knows there's a problem, and he's frantically trying to find somebody who can fix it.

Anybody know anything about programming?

I used to program my old ZX Spectrum and Acorn Electron back in the 80s if that's any help .

Evidently, from the bugs in this one, he didn't.

That brought back some memories! Very entertaining MOCR, thank you :D.

I still have my Acorn Electron, and a ZX81! I also owned a VIC-20, a Dragon 32 and an Oric Atmos at the time, and remember spending many hours typing in lines and lines of code from the various computer magazines of the day in order to play some (usually) very average game or something. Happy days :D. Have you heard of MESS (the Multiple Emulator Super System)?! I have it on my laptop, and it means I can emulate virtually any of the old home computers AND run games or whatever on it too. Nothing quite beats a bit of Atic Atac or Chuckie Egg!

It never ceases to amaze me just how far computers have progressed since then. Who would have thought at the time that the, for example, 3.5MHz processor, 16/48K of RAM and 256x192 display of the Spectrum would have developed into the powerful desktop and laptop computers we all use today!? In fact there is probably more computing power in an average mobile phone of today than in the home computers of the 1980s! Can you imagine somehow owning a modern laptop when the ZX Spectrum and others were at the height of their popularity - anybody who saw it would have been blown away  .

No doubt!

I watched the movie 2010 again recently and had to remind myself that it was made back in '84. Roy Scheider's character is seen on the beach using what appears to be a "laptop"- but it was actually an Apple IIc which was pretty futuristic-looking for its day:

The IIc required a fairly large external power supply to operate, which may explain why we do not see the screen in operation in the brief scene in which it appears.

I grew up with the original Star Trek, and still bemoan the demise of 3.5" floppies in the rainbow of colors they came in. They looked VERY similar to the data "tapes" used in that futuristic series:

Have I hijacked the thread enough yet?

:D

Cache refers to the amount of memory reserved for use by a program, in this case, for your browser.

You should have the ability to "clear the cache", in essence resetting it.

I avoid using MS Exploder, but if you use Firefox, you can select Tools->Options and then select Advanced, then select the Network tab and you will see an option to clear the cache.

I'm running version 3.0.9- your results may vary...
