Hi guys,

I'm interested in building the P-47 Thunderbolt model, but the one displayed on the FG WWII-allies area seems to be technically inaccurate.

1) the P-47 had a 4-bladed prop, not 3-bladed
2) the insignias appear to be missing from the fuselage
3) there appears to be a problem with the taper of the dorsal extension -- I think it should be rounded near the canopy
4) missing the prop nose "spinner"

I'm a bit reluctant to purchase it if the actual kit is as per the FG informational pictures.

Has anyone built this model? Are my observations accurate?

Thanks,
Willie

The kit does have a three bladed prop which is only a single layer as is shown in the picture. The kit itself is pretty simple (only two pages) which may explain the 3 bladed prop (that way because of space restrictions). There are insignia on the fuselage, and the model has three other pretty nice versions. There is not a hub for the prop. The dorsal extension is rounded at the tip, just behind the canopy. Also I noticed there are no separate wing farings.

You can always modify a the prop, or adapt one from another kit.

If you have the B-24 model (newer one by John Dell) you can use the prop hubs from that one. Just scale the page to match the Jug.
