Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the captioned model - has anyone built this model with the landing gear extended? If so, could you provide some information regarding the landing gear housing covers and how to properly install them?

I believe that in the actual aircraft, the landing gear housings open in a "split" configuration, with one "door" being slightly larger than the other. Offhand I can't remember if it it the inboard cover which is slightly smaller.

Also, it appears that the landing gear struts should be inserted into the wing in order to get them to the proper length (they appear to be too long if glued to the bottom wing as shown).

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Willie

I'm purty sure the outside door is the big one. The landing gear turns and folds back, but it is not recessed very deeply. The doors fit over gear tubes and are at least half below the wing, that is why that is why it has that round bump under the front of the wing (this isn't on the model) which is kind of a fairing for the gear which is under the wing.

If you go to Google Images for the P40E you can see what I mean.
