Getting back to that which I like best--I've started another of the Century series fighters--The F-105G "Wild Weasel". Here's what the model currently looks like:

Image

I had intitally started a "B" model, with the intent of doing a Thunderbird's paint scheme--but the "G" gave me the opportunity to do some serious underwing stores.

It's a big model--nearly seventeen inches long at 1/48 scale--but then again, the actual bird was humungous.

Still not quite ready for a beta build--but it's coming along.

THank you very much, Looks fantastic already. Since I started paper modeling the two planes I wanted most was the F-100 and F-105. Every time I see one it draws me back to those wonderful Joe son chasing days in Japan in the 60's. I hope FG comes out with it before I go to that big airbase in the sky.

All I can say is:

D-freakin'-R-freakin'-O-freakin'-O-freakin'-L.

One of my ex-profs' dads flew Thuds out of Takhli and George; if I ever get my "building hand" back I might have to build one or two for him.

don't worry--in the build sheets, all the underwing stuff will be
fully described.

The missiles are Standard (the mfgr) AGM (air to ground) 78 ARM (anti-radiation) missiles, used to attack the fire control radars for SAM (surface to air) missiles. They were the follow on to the Shrike AGM-45 ARM.

Currently ( and slowly) applying the SEA camo paint job. That's a pretty slow process, as the patterns run across multiple sections, and onto the aerodynamic surfaces. Lots of critical alignemnt issues. It may look random, but there's a specific pattern that has to be followed to create an authentic model. I ws lucky to find a complete three view (looks like it came from an old USAF T.O.) that shows the different areas and colors in some detail and inlcudes paint numbers. You can find a lot of info needed for modeling your favorite planes at this website:

Not that far along yet--intructions need to be done, and there is still soe fine tuning needed. Gonna be another delay, as I'm buying another house (for my mother in law) and there's going to be some serious work needed to bring it up to my standards. Close on Friday.
