Fiddlers Green

I've been working on a repaint of the 172 to match my fathers old airplane (N7668X) but I'm just not happy with what I'm getting as his was an older 172B with the stratigter fuselage and no rear window. Has anyone seen a model of the older 172s, or have any advice on how to modify this one. Right now I'm more interested in getting it built before Christmas than I am in getting the model to FG standards.

Build the FG 172 as is, wth the rear window, then create a new half-cone turtledeck that simply covers that over. The dorsal and vertical fin will take a bit more doing: 1st, cut off the dorsal fin completely, then recut the root of the vertical fin at a steeper angle to fit the steeper angle of the new turtledeck. Next, set the severed dorsal fin atop the turtledeck and mark how much to trim its joint to the vertical fin. Do so, and reattach the dorsal fin. The 172B had a swept fin, so the amount being cut away won't be very much.
