So I'm looking at the FG X1, and a picture I found of the D558, and I cant help thinking that the wings and tail sections look almost exaclty alike. I wonder how hard it would be to cobble together a Skystreak from other Fg plane parts?

First things first- I need a better image than just this one. Does anyone know where I can find a detailed 3-view of the D558?

Maybe Rob could help out. if I'm correct, the National Museum of Naval Aviation has one of the SkyStreaks.

We have one--it's actually hanging from the wall, right wing up, like an aluminum tapestry.

If you need any help designing the skystreak, lemme know. I'm pretty goo at kit bashing FG planes into other planes. (The Nazi Swingwing started off life as the X-1 and Me-262)

the design is so simple--why bother kit-bashing into an approximation, when you could do a good original in about the same amount of time?

gosh--I wish I had time--it's always been on my "short list". The museum work just keeps eating up my time. Now I've got another Dauntless, as well as the Hellcat to do (and three more people to supervise and train.) all I want to do this year is get the A-1 Triad model into work, so it'll be ready to go for the Naval Aviation Centenial next year..
