As many of you may have noticed we (meaning me :D ) are in the process of redesigning the site.

I would like some feedback on what everybody thinks. The main goals of the redesign is to give the site a fresh look and to make it easier to navigate the site. If you have any comments or suggestions during this redesign process they would be greatly appreciated and most likely utilized.

Thanks!

The redesigned site looks good...easy navigation, great colors.

A few pages (for example, the More Information pages for the Fokker T2 and the B-36) are too wide in IE6, forcing the dreaded sideways scrolling. I know you're optimizing for Firefox, but most people still use IE. Looks fine in Safari, which I use at home.

Is there any interest in proofreading/editing the historical notes for each aircraft? If you're looking for volunteers...I'm interested.

Howzit Nick

I agree with bigtom, spammers, must be... sorted out. Otherwise yeah, a redesign would be awesome. No side-scrolling on certain webpages, and also pretty importantly, those annoying blank spaces on the model pages, not condusive to easy reading. I also recommend updating certain model photos to really represent the improved quality of FG. If I was a prospective buyer, some of those photos would scare the hell out of me and seriously deter me from buying certain models.

Can "guests" post replies? Guests should be able to read only, just like they can't get models without paying for them (except for freebies)>

If guests can make postings, forget about controlling SPAM.

We've got to have rules about who can post what, and then enforce the rules.

Chip and the others who are in charge don't seem to mind what goes on in the forums and have allowed them to degenerate since they became involved in revising the website and putting a new model out every Friday.

Actually, Bob - *very few* spam posts are now coming in as "Guest". Basically, the spam bots are registering and posting as members

To FelixR (and every one else)

"very few" GUEST postings are spam.

THERE ARE NINE (9) GUEST SPAMS THIS MORNING IN SITE SUGGESTIONS ALONE.

Like I said, if guests can post, they'll post spam until Fiddlers Green puts a stop to it.

Same for registering and posting spam as if it is from a real member.

I would stop looking at the forum, but there is a lot of good material available, but I really dislike wading through the S**T from spammers to find it!

I think the bots made me look bad. The spams I've been deleting have all been registered bots.

OFc ourse, no sooner do I say that that the bots discover the door's open!

<groan>

Actually - I found out that *this* forum (site suggestions) was actually open to guest posting... not anymore.
