Thanks all.

Bob: I started out with the generic box/cockpit of the Fg Fly Baby (of all things!) then ported it into photoshop and added in some boxes, squiggly lines, circles and dots. When I was googling for pictures I happend to stumble upon a BMP file someone created for a new GO-229 "skin" for a video game. In it, there was a some nice graphics of an engine, a seat, and the wheel well interiors that I used.

Got the engines done and the wings on last night. The size of this model is making itself felt. Or rather, FG's style of simple modeling is. Normally, I dont like formers, but they could have been useful when supersizing. The wings kept wanting to warp and bend when I was trying to attach them, and the final result isnt all that clean. Oh well...it was an experiment after all. Now onto the landing gear and canopy.

I just finnished! This has taken longer than I had hoped it would. But at least now its done and I can turn my attention to the Ju-52 I want to start for the FGMM contest.

I noticed right after I attached the wings that I really have made the cord too thick. In fact the whole thing looks pregnant. Oh well. I pretty much scratch built the landing gear, with the exception of the larger front tire. That didnt turn out all that well, and I might try to re-do it. The rest looks...OK. I liked how the opened up the engine worked out, but I most definitly did not like how the engine assembly fitted. But then I suppose that was because I had the center wing too thick. I threw in the ladder and the Luftwaffe guys to help distract the eye from the rest of the mistakes I made. Same for the bit of dirt I added on.

I know the canopy should probably slide back, but I figured this is supposed to be the production version of the 229, which would most probably have lots of little changes to it from the prototype. Essentially, its a fantasy plane, and so I can do what I like to it!

Good job! Ilike the fact that you showed the engine compartment. The greebles and nurnies make a model.

That is AWESOME!!!!!!! Thanks for doing such a huge build Tim. You could probably fit an action figure in the cockpit at that scale

Looks really good Tim. Agree with lep about the engine compartment, nice touch :D. I'll have to build one of these sometime.

Well, its taken many months to get to it, but I finally finished off the FG Richard Pearce Flying Machine.

I painted the non-wing parts gray and cut out the wheels so you could see the spokes. I added in the rigging and made a few other changes, like where the engine was positioned and the size of the prop blades (which seemed too large based on the images I googled).

The one really big problem is with the weight of the wing structre; its too heavy for the "body" and when it sits on its wheels for more than an hour the frame underneath the wing begins to bend. So this one is going to have to fly from the basement roof.

Great Job Tim  Really looks great. Love the spoke wheels 8) I had the same problem with the wings. :( I finally used 3/32" balsa wood in the wings for support. BTW the rigging looks good as well.
