Boy, its been awhile since I did any modeling! But I did manage to finish up my British Mark IV tank over the last 3 days. I had started it in February and it took me this long to find the time and the ambition to get it done.

The model is pretty much standard with the following exceptions: the gun and machine-gun were, according to my research, what was used on the MK I and not the MK IV so I shortened the cannon and replaced the machine-gun with the one from the FG WWI armored car. I found some nice little wood buttons at the craft store that worked pretty well as ball mounts for the machine-guns and I also found some paint that was a pretty close match for them. The exhaust pipe is made up of plastic stir sticks glued together and painted.

The stand is a very heavily modified one I originally got from Delta 7 studio for a paper space shuttle.

I think thats it for the mods.

Great tank Tim! it's good to see you building again. I like the custom work you did. Really spices it up and makes it all the more realistic.

Hey, are you excited about the Jets coming back? That's gonna be nuts come October.

Yeah, this whole town is hockey nuts so having the Jets back is gonna be great. I'm not much of a fan of hockey (something I dont generally reveal as it tends to get me lynched in Canada) but even I'm excited. Did you see the new team logo? Its awesome!

I'm fortunate to be in Omaha. It's been hockey crazy since the 1930s. Gordie Howe played minor league here.

That new logo is sweet. I like the nod to the RCAF roundel with the new jet.

Good Lord, I havent built a FG model since July!

Well, today, I had a bit of free time and a hankering for a Mig-15, so I built the FG Chinese version. Took about an hour and a half, from start to finish, today.

I printed it onto some old gray cardstock, and forgot that it had a definite grain on one side. Yep, I ended up printing onto the grainy side which blured the details considerably. The only change I made was to add in some "shadow" to all the lines, via photoshop. I made the shadow very very wide and the result was supposed to make it look a bit more like weathered metal. I dont know if you can see that in the pictures. Anyhoo, it was a quickie little project I just felt like doing today as I was reading up 0n the Korean War.

Oh yeah, in my haste I put the wing fences on in the wrong spots. Doh! The smaller ones should have gone on the outside...I think. I didnt use the instructions.

Looks great TIm! I think you're right about the wing fences. Oh well, it still came out well. Nice touch on the lines. Adds a bit of character to it.

I'm on a roll! Well for me its a roll; its been a long time since I finished two models in one week. I cheated a bit on this one, as I had actually started cutting out the parts years ago and then stopped and put it aside. I can't remember now why. Anyhoo, here is the Minimoa sailplane. I threw it together after re-discovering it in my basement. It was a nice kit; no problems except the ones I made for myself. The main issue I had was making the wings too thick, which in turn meant the wing box thingys would not "slide" in place and had to be glued. Oh well, it was still fun to build and thats the main thing.

Not too many people around here these days is there? I assume everyone has moved over to the Papermodelers Forum.

Looks good Tim! Did you build that baby to fly? With a wing span that large, I would think it would glide well.

I thought about that afterwords. When I hold it, it really feels like it would fly! But with no formers in the wings, I would expect it wouldnt last long, even if I had put some placed the right amount of weight in the nose. Oh well...onwards!

You know, it always pays to look around in the FG online "versions" folders. I found a very nice repaint of the Texan in the versions folder; its actually for a BT-9. I had no idea it was there until I looked a couple of days ago! I've printed it out and plan on starting in on it soon. Its got a very nice pre-war blue and yellow color scheme.

That's my baby! I started a thread on it two years ago - didn't realize Chip had finally added it to his stable.

Hope you enjoy the result!

Man...I'm getting old. In the back of my mind, I vaguely remembered seeing a few of those pictures...but I didnt remember it was here in the forums. I even posted there, but had completely forgotten. :(

Here it is! The BT-9. I added a few bits (like engine parts from other FG kits) but its mostly stock. Nice colours.
