My RCAF Sabre Mk6

421 Sqn, 2(f)Wing 1Canadian Air Division stationed at Grostenquin France during the 50's early 60's. This is my first repaint and I've been working on it off and on for the last few years.

Cant get that pic to open Rick. Could be because I'm using dial-up at home...dial-up is funny that way sometimes. I will try it at work on Monday. You might want to double check the URL, tho...

Doesn't work for me either.

Error is:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://bcvrf.yahoo.com/bc/4327f24d/bc/c ... re%206.jpg

The following error was encountered:

Unable to determine IP address from host name for bcvrf.yahoo.com

The dnsserver returned:

Name Error: The domain name does not exist.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It could just be that yahoo have added a new sub-domain "bcvfrf", and it hasn't propagated yet, but I'd give them a kick in the pants anyway.

Ok, lets try this again.

then click on the photo (there's only one). Hopefully that will work.

Dunno what happened to the other it worked when I tried it yesterday.

I think I might.

The camouflage scheme was pretty much the same for the RAF and Luftwaffe Sabres, so I might have a go at them as well, just a case of new markings.

Hi Rick,
I'm currently working myself on the Luftwaffen Sabre, so you might avoid that work.

Last weekend, during a model show in Schleiflheim, I built (weeeell..., rather quickhacked) a prototype, and I took the chance to take some photos together with the real thing (note that the colours are much to blueish, but that's due to my printer):

And in the wind tunnel:

Best regards,
Michi

I am in awe of you guys with the graphics skills to modify models! Keep churning them out - please!

Adrian

PS - I think you can see the RAF museum's F86 on their website.

Hi Michi,

Great minds think alike, I was going to do the Richthofen Geschwader colours myself, but will leave you to it. I'm currently fiddling about with an RCAF Mustang Mk IV, (probably in City of Winnipeg colours) and a CAF Dakota with the 104 radome.

Phew, amazing how suddenly the time passes when you have to look after a child...
However, this weekend I managed to complete the almost final version of the german Sabre Mk.6.

Image

There's one or two little things I still have to fix, and the contrast between the two camo colours could be stronger, but apart from that I'm pretty satisfied with the result.

Image

Now I just have to do Bubi Hartmann's machine in bare metal finish, all the tiny writings that make a model buildable for others, and then I send it to Chip...
I wonder how much time this will take me!

Bye,
Michi [/img]

Sweet, now we just need someone to do an Aussie version ( the Fury would be a good starting point for that one).

Regards, Rick

Never mind the Aussie version...I'm still trying to figure out how you did those pictures! Very kool the way you have them "flying", with a cloudy sky background. how did you do that? Did you use Photoshop?

I'm not sure how MichiK did them, but take a look at this (you'll see...)

Now look at this picture.

See the resemblance? I cut away the surroundings from the bottom picture (using a program called Canvas) and then put it on top of the cloud background from the FG "Goodies" CD.
P.S.-I thought the top pic was smaller than that  Sorry.

Yes, that's the way I did it. It's just that I used Photoshop for the pasting and cutting.
I've taken the background images from http://www.weather-photography.com/index.php.,

Regards,
Michi
