Thanks guys :D. I try willy, I try!

I've managed to get a bit more done this afternoon. The remaining sections of the fuselage have been formed, and the tail has been assembled. The wing root formers have also been cut out are ready to be glued into place:-

Image

The two sections of the fuselage here are just resting in place at the moment because I plan to fit the gun blisters first - I figured they would be easier to glue and manoeuvre into place before the the entire fuselage is glued together. Looking good so far :).

I spent a couple of hours or so last night cutting out and assembling the four gun blisters. Three of them have fairings, and one doesn't. This is one of the ones with:-

Image

I must admit I wasn't looking forward to making these. I don't really like doing petals or anything petal-like, but these went together quite easily :). I would strongly suggest to anyone else who builds this model to not bother with the faring formers here for the following reasons - a) they're optional anyway, b) it's a lot easier without them, c) they're just too big, and d) they're really not necessary at all! I then glued the rear most couple of sections of fuselage together and fitted a couple of the blisters in place:-

Image

Doesn't look too bad! I was going to glue on the other two blisters and close up the fuselage but I thought I'd leave that until after I've fitted the wings, which is next on the agenda.

Nice! I didn't even notice the petals until I looked a second time. You are for sure the master of the petal. You swear your hatred for them, but you always manage to produce such great results

Well, the wings are on:-

Wingspan is 25 3/4 inches - goodness only knows where I'm gonna put this when I'm finished! I will post more pictures when I've fitted the fairings and finished the fuselage.

The main body of the aircraft is now finished:-

The fairings went on fairly well , just needing a bit of adjustment and trimming at the leading edge. Next up are the four  engines and the undercarriage.

Or, leave the engines off, and you have a model of the elusive B-17LG, a glider version of the B-17 designed to be towed behind a powered B-17.

Used to increase effective bomb and machine gun coverage, and reduce fuel expenses. It never made it beyond prototype stage though, because it was realized that during wartime, cost of fuel doesn't matter.

Thanks Tim :). I thought I'd post a picture of the aircraft so far with a scale cube so you can get an idea of the size of this thing:-

Image

I'm gonna to need a big space to put it when I'm finished!
