That turned out really neat. Nice job on the paint scheme and lining up the camo. I do like the spray gun look on camo, vice the sharp edge line that would have been brush painted.

Thanks, Beard. I enjoy recoloring almost as much as building, and when I can put them both together, it's like a heavenly chorus.

I've been wanting to build FG's Douglas Skystreak for a while now, but have been put off by the large amount of ink that the currently available versions would use - I didn't want to burn up one of my primary colors on just one model. There are a couple of nice photos of the NACA version in the FG model page, so I decided to recolor the B&W to match. It's really a well designed model and goes together like a dream. I built mine in 1/72 scale using internal glue strips for a smoother look. The only real fit problem I had was with the wing fairings. I wound up hand trimming new ones. I mounted the finished model on a deep rectangular base with a maple woodgrain finish and a tarmac section.

I submitted my recolor to Scott over a week ago, but haven't gotten a reply yet. I'll send him a few pics of the finished model to see if I can provoke a response.

Following are a couple of in process shots and some views of the final product. Came out pretty nice, I think.

That's a great recolor of a cool aircraft. I really like the added touch of the air brakes. Nice job Don!

Thanks so much for the kudos, fellers. I hope it will show up in the versions folder soon.

That turned out really neat, what is the scale? The presentation on the tarmac stand sets it off nicely.

I scale all my fighter aircraft models to 1/72, Beard. I've done a few at 1/100, but that's about as small as I go.
