Sometimes I might get a little carried away. Anyhoo, the is kind of a mash-up with some parts from a Fitter's kit, the basic FG Fokker DVII and paint scheme for Hugo Schafer from Jasta 15 that I shamelessly took from an OVS skin from the Over Flanders Field flight sim. I also added some of my own stuff. My wife likes snakes....

In case you didn't notice I made the control surfaces "poseable" (that may not be a word, but you get the idea)

"Posable" is a word. just not sure on my spelling, and that plane looks great! You got to love a good kit-bash now and again. Thanks for sharing!

Here's a little project I have been fussing with for a while, the Hansa Brandenburg CC. I repainted the whole thing, but it isn't very apparent. The most obvious is the water line I added. I also made the control surfaces movable, and added some other stuff, most notably the engine. Too bad the carburetors and exhaust ended up on the wrong sides. I didn't notice it until I went to mount the engine to the framework. Live and learn I guess.

Your biplane from Flanders Field is incredible. Such rich detail. How do you get it so perfect? Thank you for sharing. wc

WC, the DVII skins where taken directly from Over Flanders Fields. Their skin pack is incredible with literally thousands of skins for many different planes, both Allied and Central, all researched and correctly rendered. What I did was import the skin into Corel Draw and modify them to fit the FG model. Now I will admit this is a rather daunting task but the results seem to be worth it, as the skins are usually weathered to show correctly in the game. The only thing I dislike about them (and this is minor) is some of them have highlights on surfaces like the top of the wings. This I feel is unnecessary because the models we build (and those that show up in the game) are 3D. Shadows and highlights also show up in the game.

Now if you were referring to what I use to print them, I use just about the cheapest available HP printer, an Officejet 6000. I have two of them, one at home and one at my shop, they cost $50 each a year or two ago. I literally spend more on ink than the cost of the printer. I print on whatever material (card, brochure, or bond) using the automatic selection for paper type. I used to print only on best and found the results weren't as good.

I also spray the card with a couple of coats of Kylon clear, to keep the colors from running when I glue them.

Here is one for Wad Cutter, I repainted the Horton 229 to match the picture on the FG page. Then I made this one for my son-in-law, who is a Marvel Comics fan. This one is a fictional (duh) 229 painted for the Red Skull, the wing markings are red on black Hydra markings.

This is a straight forward build with nothing fancy. I reinforced the bottom of the wing by laminating a piece of card stock (which is my normal practice), stuffed the fuselage section with bond paper (to lazy to look for tissue) and put wire in the landing gear struts (this I think is necessary because the front gear is very delicate and rear gear just needs it).

I sent both version to Scott.

Your models are beautiful. I also use the cheapest HP printers. I also spray my models with a clear spray like Krylon. I brush a thin coat of Glue over the surfaces prior to spraying them. Good to see such outstanding FG models. Look forward to more. Bill
