They're not as tiny of thingies as you might think Possm. I'm not Lep remember. The cockpit is quite large. It's about 1.5 inches wide by 3 inches long.

Bob- I get them fine on 3 different computers so far. Maybe it's your browser?

I decided to redo the canopy. I'm going to try printing the camo part of the canopy and fairing on sticker paper, and using overhead film for the glass. It should build up just like the regular paper canopy. Plus, it'll less expensive if I screw up. 8)

I don't know why I didn't try this first. I guess I hoped to make a seamless canopy, but that sure didn't happen. I should be getting back to the build on Tuesday. I'm going home tonight for the long weekend to see the parents and hang some dry wall. Fun!

Good stuff. I didnt think the clear canopy looked bad at all. Be sure to take plenty of pictures when you do the next canopy, so we cal all copy you.

I'm waiting till the end of your tutorial before I start building mine!

After a nice long weekend I got back to work on the Gloster. Tonight I redid the canopy, coupled the fuselage, finished the landing gear, and test fit the wings to the plane. SO far things are looking much better. I'll have pictures tomorrow.

Okay. Here we go.
I was very fed up with the craptastic one-piece molded canopy I did, so I rebuilt it using two pieces of plastic. I used some regular injet safe overhead transparency film for the glass. But, instead of trying to glue everything together and making an unholy mess, I used a tip from a fellow on another forum to use sticker/label paper for the frame. Sooo, I got some Avery "Ink Jet Sticker Project Paper" (#3383). I printed the canopy page (#2 on the large version) onto the printer paper.

I cut out the frame
Image

And then I stuck it onto the plastic sheet (notice the magic floating appearance)
Image

As the sticker paper is fairly light, I decided to stick the entire piece to plastic for reinforcement. I had to use CA glue to get the tabs to stick ( the extra piece between the tabs is an olive colored strip for the interior to cover the gap between the glass and the cockpit)
Image

Because of the reluctancy of the plastic to bend with the paper, there were a few gaps in the joints between the frame and the fuselage. Here are a couple
Image
Image

To fix them, I used colored sections from the sticker paper (that's why I printed the whole page, not just the canopy) to fill in the gaps
Image
Image

They aren't super, but they do the job.
Once the canopy was secured, this is the final result

There it is. In the next couple of nights it should be finished up.
