We need a Douglas D-558-1 Skystreak in bright red. Finally a rework of the B-29 into the Navy P2B-1S "Fertile Myrtle" to carry a conversion of the D-558-2 Skyrocket.

Every time I walk past it (the D558-1) I think how simple the model would be to make. The only tricky part would be the wing fairings. Wish I had the time to design (anything) right now.

The Skystreak is currently mounted on the wall of the museum--just on the left as you enter. It used to sit on the deck, but was moved to make room for an expanded display of large aircraft carrier models--each between five and ten or more feet in length.

Cool display--every class of US carrier, from the Langley through Nimitz class is represented by at least one model, with period appropriate and correctly marked aircraft. My favorite is the 1/48th Essex class, completely made of plexiglass, showing all the compartmentalization....loaded with TBM and F6F type aircraft, too.
