But has anyone given thought to some FG style ships?
It would really be neat to be able to build an FG style battleship, aircraft carrier, sub, destroyer, tanker, etc...

My first suggestion would be the USS Enterprise.

yah, it would be nice to have a few FG ships, esp. aircraft carriers, but a 1:60 scale carrier would be HUGE!

yeah, like 20 feet long huge. We researched doing just the island and part of the flight deck for dioramas. Still a huge model.

I would love a modern/semi-modern carrier deck section!

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of an aircraft carrier that could be built out of 1-4 sheets of paper. Not more than, say, 18 inches in length. There are a LOT of nice ship kits out there, but not a lot of good warships that a 14-yr old could build! Scale to me isn't so much important as the fact that you could use it for diorama work - say in the background of the Dauntless or Zero.

I think ships would be great. I believe that some of the older vessels such as Civil War ironclads or gunboats from that area might be quicker to fabricate . Check out the Port Columbus Naval Museum website. They are rebuilding the Uss/Css Water witch sidewheeler. That would be a cool model...
