A comment from Dragos over on the Papermodelers forum got me to thinking that a great add-on for Fiddler's Green models would be cockpit detail kits. Designed in WSAM scale, they could be sold by FG singly, or in sets. This way, the detail offered by the line could be greatly improved with minimal expense to Chip. If they were designed in WSAM scale, theoretically they should fit perfectly. This way, the modeler would have the option to go with a clear canopy and authentic interior, instead of having to resort to cobbling something up. What do you guys think?

Hmm, sounds like you may be onto something there, I would cough up the bucks for something like that just to avoid the dreaded blue canopy syndrome.

Most cockpits are quite similar in layout--depending on era, so why not a set of more or less generic cockpit parts, that a reasonably adept person could put together to make a custom setup.?

Great minds think alike, Rob! I was thinking that very thing when I started reading this post! A generic cockpit would be just the thing. Most of the time you cant see all that much through the "glass" anyway.

Three or maybe four cockpit layouts would do it, I would think. One for WWI and open cocpit planes, one for WWII, one for jets.

When you think of all the kit bashing going on, it makes sense. That JU-87 interior has certainly gotten a workout! And I've used the interior of the Fly Baby to flesh out the interior of the Mistubishi Claude. So a standar set of generic interiors would work great.

Now, if only someone would come up with a set of generic pilots to go with it... 8)
