I'd never heard of this plane until I saw it featured in a programme on the military history channel yesterday :o. I think it would be an interesting addition to the FG stable http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F3D_Skyknight

I saw an episode of "Dogfight" on the Military channel a while back about the Skyknight. I believe it was involved in one of the last incidents with Korean Migs at the end of the Korean war.

The F3D is also the only jet that saw service in both Korea and Vietnam (with the Marines). The first to carry the sparrow missle, too. It was one of the few jet fighters that did NOT have ejections seats--the aircrew egressed via a slide, between the seats. (very tight--I could barely fit through it, the one time I went inside.)
