This is a question for John Dell... What scale is the B-24? It seems closer to 1/48 than 1/60.

Thanks
David

Dell's B-24 is a redraw of Chip's B-24, which is an adaptation of Poland's December 1988 Maly Modelarz B-24 - scale: 1/50. The Maly model sections the fuselage more than Chip's (and Dell's), as well as has bulkheads and ribs, but Dell's exterior artwork is impeccable and his B-24's look almost real. Unfortunately, neither Chip nor Dell redesigned the Maly canopy, which is one of the worst reproductions of the B-24 canopy I've seen.

Thus, anyone desiring a B-24 cockpit canopy that actually LOOKS like a B-24's canopy drop me an e-mail amund@gene.com & I'll e-mail one I designed from photographs I took of the B-24's canopy at Castle Air Museum (using a ladder to get the lens square to the profile without distortion). That canopy has extreme rake, tumblehome and cant, which means every view of it is an optical illusion, and I have yet to see a model get it right, paper or plastic (although the plastic versions are close). Mine design gets all those eye bending angles correct - and thus LOOKS like a B-24 canopy from all viewing angles.

What you can also do is send the canopy in to Chip and see if he'll add it to the model, either replacing the original, or as an add-on.
