Fiddlers Green

Is it my imagination, or...does part 2 not fit properly to part 1 of the hull? I can trim it to fit better but looking at the printed lines, the circumference is waaaay off. The bowcap and bow went together fine, but then 2 is really way off..oi!

built the norge a couple of times ans never had any trouble with that....my biggest problem came with fitting the keel on.....check your printer settings......on the scale make sure it says "none"...it sounds that you may have printed with "print to fit" or "print to page"...either of them would make each part a litte different in size and make it very difficult to assemble.....i hope this works.

hmmm, say thats a good idea, poss. I hadn't thought of that, and it does seem like the pieces are different scales, I mean, the circumference of P1 and P2 were different where as the parts off the same sheet - bowcap, bow and P1 all fit fine.

Have been working slowly and more carefully on the second attempt but still getting some mismatches - doing the standard version at the moment - is the large version any better?
I may have to opt for a heavy paper too, I'm using 190 gsm (about 85#) but prefer 250 gsm (approx 140#)

Hmm...I'd have to check back to see exactly which parts numbers those are. Back when I built the large version, the only part I had a problem with was the keel, which simply did not line up with the lines on the bottom of the airship.

I had used tan coloured 67 pound paper so I didnt have to worry about white edges.

its been awhile ..but i believe the keel was my biggest problem....i used 110 cardstock......which i use for all my models.

Tan colored paper? Crafty idea, that. I have trouble finding the stock I want in white, let alone color here but if I should see some, I'll try that too. I have a feeling that is isnt my first or last Norge. I am having a lot of trouble in places with fit, and getting a smooth outline. I shall persevere however - part of the fun is overcoming the challenges. The large size might be better.
I am thinking this model may best be served by butt joining the sections with inside paper tabs - might try that on my next build

I built the Norge a while ago, I also had problems with the keel mismatching but overcame that by gluing each piece on separately, looks fine to me. As for mismatches on the envelope, I had no problems, except for the fact that the glue dried out too quickly due to its sheer size. A good looking model when built, persevere it's worth it

I think Chip posted a pic. or two of mine on the website...but those are probably too small to show any detail.

I'm going to have a crack at the bIg version man compare the two. The regular one just seems all so wrong! The parts one the one sheet all fit fine - that bowcap, bow and part #1 but after that, forget it. I'm talking quite a lot of millimeters of misalignment here, making me think there is very slight rescaling error. I'm going to measure the circumferences and then rescale and reprint pages as I go,
