It's got too many fiddly bits for my skill level. Plus, my landlord might object to it hanging from my ceiling.

The kit's OK--but that glue bottle is a bit unhandy.

:? HUM....That looks like another 1:1.....That's not going to fit in my office either.....Right :? :?: :?:

You know we've been scaling down and down and down.........You know if we went the other way we could build one we could actually get in

But it wouldn't fit in my Office..... :(

I'd like to know who your wholesaler is for glue Rob  That's another nice looking bird. The OV-10 was always one that interested me.

Somewhere in my archives is an old Air Progress article making the case for building a 3:1 J-3 Cub, complete with sketches and preliminary design plans. The completed airplane would have a 105 ft wingspan and suggested power was a 600 HP P&W R-1340 buried in the cowling behind gigantic dummy A-65 cylinder heads molded from fiberglass. The article mentioned that the finished "J-3-cubed" would seat as many as 10 passengers, and that all the seating should be built to be as uncomfortable as in the original, thereby assuring that no one misses out on that classic "J-3" experience. Great article - I'll have to see if I can find it; it was published sometime in the early 1970s.

In that same spirit I think it's time we also designed a 3:1 model, to sort of compensate for all those zillions of electron sized bits of airplane shaped paper dust Lep keeps the pages of this forum well sprinkled with. The Hughes Hercules "Spruce Goose" would make a fantastic 3:1 subject, featuring a wingspan nearly a thousand feet from tip to tip. Tweezers and eyestrain would be non-existent - even details as small as a fuel pump would be the size of small car.

And to maximize the challenge of this model, it should all be printed on business cards. Might have to buy glue in 55 gallon barrels by the boxcar load, but think about how many peaceful evenings' worth of blissful assembly would be in a project like that - more than a few weeks, at least! Long weeks, the 10,000 day kind.

I did a 500:1 model of an exacto blade. Does that count?
