For my first post, I Decided to give The Abatros DVa a try with a few simple custom details. First, I used rubber O rings for tires, then I used some hobby tubing for the twin LMG machine guns. I also reinforced the wings and rudder with # 110 card stock. The wing and landing gear struts I reinforced with 1mm cardboard. Finally I added some basic rigging to complete the model. This model was also sized up 20% using a pdf editor. Here are some pictures of the completed model:

That's a great way to start off here! Wonderful job on this one. I can never get biplanes to turn out right. Great extra details too :D

Welcome to the board!!! A great start your Albatross.

One advice: your pictures seems to be blurred. I think if you can use a tripod or just to use some support when your take the pictures you are going to get a lot better pictures.

Welcome to the forum! That's a lovely looking Albatros you've built there. Those 'O' ring tyres look just perfect. Is this your first card model?! If so then what a debut! One thing you might want to consider in future is to colour the edges of the card where it's been cut so as to hide those white lines. I use watercolour pencils on my models, but others use marker pens or whatever else they find that does the trick. Keep up the good work :D.

Thanks for the great tips and comments! This was not my first Fiddler's Green model, but rather the first time I have tried to add modifications to a model where I have encountered problems during prior builds. I sat back and watched how the experts were doing it and tried to incorporate as much as I could into this project. I still have alot of techniques to learn and master, so I will be building another soon, probably the P-80. I will try to incorporate the tips you guys suggested in this post to my next attempt...thanks again!

As I said before, great looking model. I have one question. Where did you get the O rings :)

The O-rings came in a pack of washers for outdoor hoses purchased from Wal-Mart. They were found in the garden center right next to the hoses and cost $1.20 per pack. Two packs will give you 5 tires...
