I have seen some unusual names in the member list.....i was curious how each of you came up with your screen name.....I'll start first.....the possm came from the fact that at the time i had a baby possum.......we raised him till was about a yr and a half old...then let him go....the 23....the wife and myself were both born on the 23rd of Feb.....but different yrs. :) :)

Mine was derived from the fact that at the time Jurassic Park opened in theaters, I looked kinda like (and had an attitude like) a pint-sized version of the character Dennis Nedry.

It's a "skin" I'm working on shedding.

I'm, uh, in the US Air Force, and, uh, had a severe momentary lack of imagination. I also happened to be able to jump on the FG Forums bandwagon just as she was pullin' out of the hangar, so I got lucky.

I'm also 4th generation Air Force (if you include Gen Pershing's Mexico trip for my great-grandfather), and couldn't come up with anything more suitable here on FG.

Now if I could only get this really cool new avatar I made to upload...

Mine was supposed to be Dinosaur, but I spelled it wrong. The cable guy took my spelling and he messed that up even more. So I ended up with dinsour. No one had it already so I kept it.

I chose Dinosaur because I always say I'm old enough that I walked with them when I was young. (that old)

MIssion Operations Control Rooms--that tells me a lot. Are you associated with it in a professsional way, or are you just an arfficianado?

Afficianado. I'm a big fan of the old glory days of NASA. I was a weird youth- I knew the Apollo missions and the Astronauts assigned on each like other kids could quote major-league baseball players from their bubble-gum cards. I guess my heros have always had wings on their chest. I've never had to use my other choice for a nick- Mascon. I'll leave that one for you to figure out...

Nope, in this forum that doesn't count as weird. You'd have to go to the level of having all the mission and crew names tattooed on your eylids to even get noticed for that one.

At 14 I attended vocational school in the morning then went to work 8 hours a day in a machine shop that made carbide tools. I worked there until I was 25 when I went into the Air Force for 26 years. after that I worked 17 years as a mail carrier. While in the P.O. I socilized with the younger guys. They started call me the Old Guy and it stucked. Even though there were guys in the office older than me I was called the old guy by everyone. I sign My F.G. messages Cowboy because next to God, America and family, I trully love airplanes and Western movies and western lure.
