Just tried something else. I changed the default admin e-mail from info@fiddlersgreen.net to my email, and updated the auto sig to include "Be sure to send an email to activate your account"

Let's see what happens.

nope....i got an email from u a cpl weeks ago...saying that someone had emailed chip wanting to know why their account hadnt been activated....other than that....it quiet on the home front...... :D

I reset it back to the info@fiddlersgreen address, it was messing up Chip's system.

I did put in the footer it sends to them my email address to see if I'd get any requests to activate accounts.

And it worked! I got a legitimate request! Unfortunately I got to it too late and the account had been deleted in the daily sweep. I put you're e-mail Possm so they'll email you also.

Ya know, I've noticed a trend in a rush of the spambots from about 2am to 4am my time (Mountain-Arizona). I wonder what would happen if we shut the forum down for those 2 hours.

Not sure. I couldn't turn it off any way, I'm usually at work still around 2am, although I could turn it back on at 4am if somebody were to turn it off.

Somebody's gonna get burned for those 2 hours. But it'd sure lighten Possm's load a bit. Plus, it's not like the place is a hot bed of activity anyway.
