Fiddlers Green Paper Models offers crafty fun and it's all downloadable !! ...for many years now Fiddlers Green has offered card models of various aircraft and building for sale at airshows and via mail order in magazines. Originally these were on postcard sized card stock now they can be found in electronic form and are available both from the Fiddlers Green website and on CD-ROM. . There are Historical aircraft, a New England Village, Charming English Cottages, Cars, Boats, and Trains.. These may be downloaded and then printed out on card stock and built over and over as your heart desires. The free Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to read these.
The Fiddlers Green website , started
in 1997, is well worth a visit and includes tasty free samples
of many things. There's an real easy to make cool shark puppet
that has a moving mouth. A cow that bobs her head.. (stack a couple
squares of a Hershey bar back under it's tail.). Projects for
that young'un to do along with mom or dad (or the Grand Parents).
Here's the perfect Dad and Lad project...The Aircraft CD has 160 designs including the prewar Bleriot and Taube; 15 different Fokker Triplanes in various colour schemes ranging from that old standby - Red Baron red to an overall black one with a fire-breathing devil on the fuselage, a Gotha bomber (in multiple sheets). WW2 aircraft range from a six sheet B-24, a two sheet P-38, Spitfire, Corsair, various Messerschmitt designs, Mustang, Hurricane, Zero .. all the old favorites. Proceeding on to postwar and modern we find the MiG-15, Tornado, F-14 . . . as well as civil designs like the Cessna, Ercoupe and about 20 other national treasures.
There's a scale model of a sailplane that is built to fly ...
and fly it does. If the cat jumps it and crumples a wing. . it
's easy to trash and print another one.
Print some for a few friends while
you're at it..
Besides the aircraft, the CD contains plans for two different styles of stands to display your creations as well as prop discs to show them in flight. There are also many full color back backgrounds you can print out to show your models off professionally when you photograph them..
Fiddlers Green also has four types of buildings available. An English Village, Western Town, New England Village, and famous Lighthouses. They're all very charming and are designed for sprucing up a model railroad layout or the Holiday Fireplace mantle.
Available in the popular HO, N and Z scales, included are all the structures one would expect in Smalltown USA .There is even scale groundwork (layout) for the town.
Each design has at least one page of printed parts. All parts are in full color and are shaded to represent various details. The Fiddlers Green artists have worked in a delightful whimsical 'feel' for the models- A second page gives instructions on building each model.
Last summer Fiddlers Green was watching the sales of the 1909 Bleriot Channel Crossing airplane skyrocketing with some 45 sales per day.. Web Master, Chip Fyn, certainly wanted to find out why so after asking the very next customer, he found that the National Home Schooling organization had recommended the Web Site and model for their lesson on Historical Aviation adventures... What did Fiddlers Green decide to do with this hot new seller.??.. They announced to the group that if they go to the Bleriot page and click on the tiny link that reads simply "Home School", they can download the Bleriot for absolutely free.. Curiously, sales are now booming for the Fantasy Castle,,, another perfect Home Schooling project..
High on the Fiddlers Green home page there's a free downloadable tribute model and layout of the WTC towers and a suggestion to the FG visitor to perhaps send in a dollar to to NY Relief Fund.... If each one does, the fund is growing by about $40,000 per week..
Paper models and the internet...A perfect match !

The Legend of Fiddlers Green. (an Old English Legend) They say that an old salt who is tired of seagoing should walk inland with an oar over his shoulder. When he comes to a pretty little village deep in the country and the people ask him what he is carrying...he will know that he's found Fiddlers Green. The people give him a seat in the sun outside the Village Inn with a glass of grog that refills itself every time he drains the last drop and a pipe forever smoking with fragrant tobacco. From then onwards he has nothing to do but enjoy his glass and pipe and watch the maidens dancing to the music of a fiddle on Fiddlers Green. |
