I nearly passed! I got three questions right - 2, 6 and 10. I have to confess, however, that I've had this quiz e-mailed to me before, so it may be that the three I answered correctly were the only ones I could remember from the last time I did it .

The only ones I knew were 3, 8, 10. I knew the black box was orange from watching airplane shows since I was a wee lad. I don't have a clue how I knew about cat gut, and I knew the purple finch because I had some living on my porch as a kid and was dive bombed frequently.

Well, you won't believe me when I tell you I got six right then.

It should have been 7, but I'd forgotten just how many more than 100 years the Hundred Years War ran.

But then, I've been known to read dictionaries and encyclopaedia for relaxation.

Then a big congrats goes to you grs! On the 100 years war thing, I also knew it was more than 100 years, but couldn't for the life of me remember how many.

1. who is buried in Grant's tomb?

2. what was Joseph Stalin's family name?

3 Sally Ride was the first woman astronaut. Who was the first woman in space?

4. On what hill was the Battle of Bunker Hill fought?

5. What nationality made up most of the Holy Roman Empire?

6. Where was Chinese Checkers invented?

7. If you are in a room with a Gorilla, a Chimpanzee, an Orangutan, and a Rhesus Monkey, which is the smartest primate in the room?

ANSWERS

1. Nobody. Grant's Tomb is just a monument

2. Dzhugashvili. Stalin was a pseudonym meaning "Man of Steel"

3 Valentina Tereshkova, who flew in space in 1967. Because she was from the USSR, Tereshkova was a cosmonaut, not an astronaut.

4. Breed's Hill

5. Germans

6. The United States

7 you are (we hope)
