I did a couple of test noses. One on 20# and one on card stock. I'm really glad I did. Same with the engines. The from of the cowling isn't wide enough to cover the tabs of the outer part. Wings took some practice too. They were kind of strange.

Any body ever print a model on photo paper? I would think that it would give it a good shine. I wonder if the glue would effect it though. Any thoughts?

I've printed a few models on photo paper. The gloss effect is awesome BUT the ink likes to smudge a bit and the photo paper is very thin, doesn't do well for larger models. I reckon laminating a sheet of ordinary paper behind should do the job. The results are worth the effort though.

I'm thinking that a GB-R1 on photo paper would look sharp. Also, just for kicks and giggles, I started a Bell X-1 model last night. It's not FG. I found it somewhere on the internet for free. Pretty nice little model. I'll post when I'm finished.

Here's my Bell X-1. It's not a great model. Lots of seams and tiny tabs. It was easy, but took some trimming. Back bone piece fit funny. Oh well, here's the pics.

Okay, I got sick of that other x-1 I did. It wasn't FG and it didn't turn out that great. Well, I got the FG version, and it is much better. Here are some pics.

I was working on the Olive B-17 but had to take a break. I had for some reason printed the wing sheets on different computers. The sizes aren't the same, nor are the colors. All I had left was to put on the wings and engines. Now I have to rebuild both wings and all four engines.

I have officially gone off the reservation on this one. While taking a break form the B-17, I wanted to build something so I searched my computer for a simple model. I ended up building this. I appologize, but it's not FG.

Even more terrifying, is the fact that doing this racing model has inspired me to build a PLASTIC race car model I had from before I started with paper. I'm sorry!

Hey willgoat, you built that car pretty fast. It looks very familiar so I probably have it in a folder somewhere.

No worries on the car Willygoat. I got burnt out on aircraft so I built a Yamaha YZF-M1 superbike, amazing model, almost 200 parts, yet it's free. Only one problem, as good as it looks, it takes way too long to complete, was a nice change though, so back to the airplanes now.

Willygoat, re backsliding to plastic, there's always my way: Embrace the Dark Side. Plastic and paper are different disciplines, and sometimes you gain ideas from one to use on the other...

Different methods for different times. When money's tight, I build paper. When my hands are acting up, I build plastic (or, even worse, Lego). Different things for different situations...

Some very nice work, BTW. Wish I were half as good a cardmodeler...

Here's my latest. The F-100F. Overall a pretty easy build. Had to reinforce the LG with a paper clip. It also gave them a somewhat round shape.

Here's my latest. The H-21. Immediately after I finished building it she said I had to take it to the local aircraft museum where I work part time. She's not too big on having large things clutter up the place.

I feel I should clarify my last post. The "she" I speak of is my wife. She doesn't really like the whole models filling the house thing. I just smile and tell her that everyone else that I know likes them.
