I'm fairly new to this posting picture thing. I think I followed the directions correctly. These are a couple of planes I re-colored. The Cessna I redid for my school, and the C-47 for a local aircraft museum. Hope they aren't too big. ... G_0044.jpg ... G_0033.jpg ... G_0037.jpg

Here's a couple more now that I know I did it right. ... G_0047.jpg ... G_0053.jpg
I thought it would look cool if the Cessna looked like it was taking off.

Rob, I reckon you've got issues... What about the sound of radial and inline pistons? Hmmm... 4 RR Griffons in full flight, now that beats a jet any day. :D :D

Nice models by willygoat, C-47 looks good.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Most of the people I know just think I'm kinda wierd. i tell them they're wierd for not doing this. :D

I like the sound of radials--music to my ears. We ran up the SNJ the other day, and I'm still hearing that sweet sound.

As For models though--I do prefer jets--they're what I worked on for twenty six years.

Currently, though, I'm working to restore a Douglas JD-1 (A-26) Invader--later redesignated B-26. . . Not to be confused with the Martin B-26 Marauder. So I really have no issues with piston pounders--just as modeling subjects. I may, though, do that JD-1--I've got a whole new set of scars from working on it the past three months, and it's kinda growing on me--like a wart.

I myself prefer the radial music. I could listen to it all day. Although, the sound of F-16s and F-18s flying in formation is very nice.

Rob, I would love to see that A-26. I am currently compiling a collection of aircraft to match that of the aircraft museum in town, and the A-26 is a nice part of the collection.

I like jet models, no problems for me when attaching wings to fuselage unlike the WW2 planes, I've only got one in my collection.

I need to build a C-47 and do a redraw in SAAF colours plus the modification into a C-47TP "turbo dak". See them flying all the time, nice planes.

I was toying with the idea of modifying one into an R4D-8 (C-117) and adding a bit more "point" to the nose to model the "Que Sera, Sera"--the first plane to land at the South pole. It's sits battered and forelorn, on our flightline--having been brutally assaulted by hurricanes Ivan and Katrina. Still wears it's skiis, 'though it's missing the port wing and rudder. Our NAS Rota C-117 had it's tailwheel torn off when it weather-cocked during Katrina. and is currently being rebuilt.Image

Nah, C-47TP's cooler. I'll post a few pics tomorrow or e-mail them if you're keen. Would be a fun modification, designing new engine pods and lengthening the fuselage.

I had the privilege of working on the old girl for a couple of years when I was stationed in Cold Lake and worked in Base Flight. We had Pinocchio and Dolly's Folly (the 2 Daks with 104 radar) 5 T-33s and 2 Twin Hueys.

It was a good two years that I remember fondly, especially because I did my best to fill any empty t-bag backseat.
