thanks possum! no, it was not used by Germany, as the Finnish swastika was not at all associated with nazi Germany, it was in use long befor hitler took a fancy to it. but Finland was allied with germany against Russia in the the Winter war, (1939-40) and continuation war, (1941-44) but allied with russia against germany in the Lapland war (1944-45).

http://www.sci.fi/~ambush/faf/faf.html has lot of info. on the Finnish Air Force

Thanks you guys! I'm starting on the large version of the Cessna CR-3, which is shaping up to be an easy build, except for the cowling, wich is kind of hard 'cause of all those blisters

First of all, welcome to the forum. Thanks for sharing pics of your Buffalo. Hopefully you'll continue to post pics of your builds. And I'm looking forward to your repaints of the SBD.

thanks july! well, the Cessna is not working so well, something about the fuselage supposed to be round, and turning out to be more like a rounded trapezoid :? :?

well, it is finished, it does not look good at all, but it makes a great free-flight model with a nail & nut in the nose! I'l post pics later.

well, here it is,

http://img144.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 039uz8.jpg

I did not put on the landing gear, and the cowling is crunched from a rather hard nose dive!

showing the nail-and-nut nose wait, as well as the gap between the wings and fuselage! (thats the hard part, trying to get it to glue with out that gap)

so, 'guess I'l try my hand at making the Wedell-Williams racer, then I'l probably turn it into a free-flight model, instead of a display model (which means leaving of the wire bracing & other small parts, a.k.a. "cheating")

I'l try the CR-3 again, latter...

Edgar,

yah, I think Finnish camo is the best looking of any air force in WWII! maybe somebody should do repaints of all the FG models used by Finland, we already have the Buffalo, and the Hurricane & Messerschmit Bf-109 could be done in Finnish camo... I started on the Hurricane, but I haven't finished it yet though, might be a while before I do... if and when i finish it, it'l probly look like this:

or I might get realy ambitious and and do the overhauled version:
