Thanks to a little incouragement and help from my friend, Musicman, :D who talked me into doing a model high lighting my military service, in which he did all the work, doing a repaint of the J-3 and adding all the Unit patches and stuff. All I did was build the thing  I think it came out pretty well. Here to share not only my service, but his expertise with putting the whole thing together. I think he's already doing one for someone else. Thanks  Musicman...

Well, Gary (Musicman) & I have been playing again. Doing some repaints and graphics. We both really liked the New J-3 Cub from FG. So we kinda stuck with that one. No other reason really. After doing the one I posted here last week. Gary and I decided to see if we could come up with a generic Vietnam Veterans model that would cover all the U.S. Services that served in Vietnam during the Vietnam war. 8)
The model we came up with, Sports Service Patches for each branch of service, (ARMY, NAVY, AIRFORCE and MARINES.) on the wings and elevator. Vietnam Medals, (Arm Forces Expeditionary,,, Vietnam Service,,,and Vietnam Campaign Medals, U.S Flag, and Vietnam Veterans patch.) on the fuselage. Also the Vietnam Service ribbon is on the tail and on the bottom of the wings. We collaborated on the design and placement of the graphics. Gary did the repaint work, and then we started building. Gary built the regular one staying to the original parts on the sheets with the regular canopy. You should pay close attention to the Pilot and Passanger!!!! I built the one with the clear canopy and detailed interior, & extras.

We did this repaint to honor all veterans who served our country during the Vietnam War.

Enjoy......We did

Gary, AKA Musicman and myself are at it again. This time we're posting one of two aircraft we're working on to honor the Veterans of the Korean War. This one is the F-86 Sabre Jet with marking for all US Services that served in Korea. As this aircraft ushered in the combat Jet age. The second model is the F4U Corsair, major ground support aircraft in the Korean war. We collaborated on the paint sceme and markings. Gary built the stock FG version and gimped both models and I did the one with detailed cockpit and canopy.

The F86 Sabre, brought swept wing and sonic boom to modern warfare. In 1950 the Sabre was rushed to Korea to combat the MiG in a new kind of combat with closing speeds and performance never before experienced. High over the Yalu River, Sabres and MiGs tested each other in the biggest jet-vs-jet battles in history.

Hey Tim!!! How you doin?? :D Between my kids & Grand Kids I collect wheels from broken toys. I have a whole box of toy wheels that I've collected over the years. I also get wooden wheels at the craft store, and I've actually spent a buck at the dollar store to buy a toy truck or car just to get the wheels  I cut out the original wheel assembly, beef them up and modify them to fit the wheels I'm going to use. I've never really mastered making a good looking wheel. Sometimes I have no choice and have to built one, but not before trying to find a toy or wooden wheel instead... Funny, :? The kids often wind up getting their wheels back  On a card model  With instructions to salvage the wheels if they wind up distroying the model  Hey we green man!!!! recycling Paper & wheels!!!!

This is the second model of the Korean War Veterans. 8) F4U Corsair. This aircraft was used extensively for ground support during the war. This Model sports a Korea Veteran patch under the cockpit, a Korean Vet patch on the nose cowl Proclaiming "Freedom is not Free." A U.S. flag on the tail and the four branch of service on the wings. Gary does the stock FG version on glossy card stock and I build it on regular card stock with clear canopy and detailed cockpit.

I think this is Gary & my fifth....or seventh?? model....And we are still talking to each other! Is that a record?? :? Actually Gary winds up doing most of the work after we decide on the model, the graphic, patches and their placement. He removes stuff to make room for the patches, does repaints, and places all the patches & Graphics. When we're happy with that then we do the builds. We're now working of WWII Europe & Pacific Theaters.

Musicman & My first installment for the WWII Veterans, Pacific Theater. As always Gary does the stock FG model & I do the one with clear canopy and detail cockpit.
The Grumman Hellcat.
To the Hellcat falls the distinction of finally wresting air superiority from the Japanese Zero during the Pacific war. Hellcats also served with the UK, French and Uruguayan navies.

After doing the OD color BD-5, I just had to have the James Bond 007, BD-5J  From the movie "Octopussy." A really nice model to do a clear canopy and detailed cockpit. 8) I tried building the model with clear packing tape with no success. I found I had to build the model with the stock canopy and then cut out the windows. Then it was very easy to make the canopy in two pieces of clear plactic like used for prop disc. BTW the dashboard for the instrument panel is the cut out front part of the canopy!!

Well I started out to scratch build a copy of the James Bond, Lil Nellie from the movie, "You only live twice." 8) If the fuselage looks familiar, it the front end of the BD-5. Hand painted  I wish now I'd used the fuselage from the BD-5J and went with the Red White & blue. Oh well next time  I put all the patches on it to help hide the hand painted fuselage

That's a neat little bird Bob. Didn't you make one of your gyro a while back? Don't think of the patches as hidding paint marks. They are added flair!
