Thought I'd try a new game as follows:

Supply obscure clues that, taken together, positively identify a well known airplane. The first player to make the correct ID then chooses the next airplane and supplies its clues. (Players whose airplanes are up must therefore monitor the game from time to time so as to confirm the correct guess).

Example:

Iron Cross
No flying/landing wires
Superfluous interplane struts

Answer: Fokker Dr1 triplane

OK, first set of real clues:

Howard Hughes
TWA
Canted nosewheel axles
Power Recovery Turbines

Good luck!

I'm going to say SPitfire. Though I'm probably wrong.

"glazed" is UK-speak for "greenhouse" --- see if that helps ---

Other UK terms & translations:

"Drop the undercart" = "Lower the landing gear"

"Circuits and bumps" = "Touch and go landing practice"

"Twiddle my airscrew" = "Swing the propellor (by hand to start the engine)"
