Here's an Air-Evac operation in progress, circa 1943. FG Piper J-5 AE in 1/160. Figures are Preiser, modified and painted to US Navy colors. The windsock staff is the height of a #11 blade.

Bob,
We always called it PSP, Perforated Steel Planking, I think the official name was Marsden Matting. Y'know I've been going nuts trying to figure out where I got that. I know it's not Avant because I just downloaded it. If i find it I'll let you know.

What can I say, Bob? An APC is an armored personnel carrier, an APU is an auxillary power unit ... Help! I'm stuck in acronym mode!! You know what they say about us mature folk... it's not true, but the youngsters say it anyway.

Bob, I found it! The PSP I used in the Air-Ambulance J-5 Dio. came from Dave Winfield's 1/50 Airfield Diorama set at ecardmodels.com $14.95 for the set.
Here's another one, not quite as good, I think, but it is free.

Enjoy.
