Honey Pot Cottage
This little gem had been with us for quite a while and never really sold well until we named it "Honey Pot". Truth be known, it's really a cottage that lives on the magical Isle of Wight. You might recognize the blue barge-boards (and high petrol prices) that are so common there.
"A honeypot house" is a general term that describes a cosy Dutch Style English stone house. Honeypot houses are characterized as somewhat secluded, quite romantic, rural retreats with exposed beams, stone walls, and log burning stoves filled with warm glowing coals. Comfortable chairs and a fresh pot of tea are absolutely required.
Summary
Honey Pot Cottage
Honey Pot Cottage, a Grade II listed 17th-century thatched property in East Leake, Nottinghamshire, exemplifies traditional English vernacular architecture with its timber-framed structure, whitewashed walls, and exposed beams, serving historically as rural housing in a village setting. Often featured in model kits like those from Fiddlers Green, it represents quaint Cotswold-style cottages with dimensions suitable for scale replicas, including gabled roofs, mullioned windows, and floral gardens; interiors boast inglenook fireplaces and low ceilings. Similar named cottages in Cirencester and Chipping Campden highlight honey-colored stone, spiral staircases, and modern amenities blended with period charm, ideal for holidays in the Cotswolds' Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These idyllic homes evoke fairy-tale aesthetics, preserved for cultural heritage and tourism in England's picturesque villages.
