Ford Model "T" Tin Lizzy
Ford Tin Lizzy:
The
Tin Lizzie was the first car to be manufactured on
a full blown assembly-line. After converting to assembly-line
production on 14 January 1914 the selling price was lowered by
$850 to $370 !!
In order to speed up manufacturing between 1915 and 1925, only BLACK Tin Lizzys were produced, since THIS was the color that dried quickest.
It is falsely stated that Henry Ford said, "You CAN have a Model T in any color as long as it's black." The rumor is that it actually came directly out of the Ford Marketing Department in Detroit. It has stuck like glue for close to 100 years!!
Between 1908 and 1927 in the USA 15 million copies were built. In 1972, this record was awarded Volkswagon.
The Ford Model 'T' will be a special treat at county Fairs until gasoline is SO EXPENSIVE they can't make the trip anymore. |
Politicians often ride Model Ts in parades to show the voters AN IMAGE of how humble they are and, at the same time, subliminally show support for the greedy oil companies who have them in their pockets. |
Model T instructions are clear and easy to follow. |
